Helen Morris is a user experience designer with particular passion and experience in mobile user experience. In the past she has worked at a tech startup pioneering in the mobile space many years before we’d heard of iPhone or Android. These days she’s an Experience Architect in one of Europe’s largest user experience departments at LBi London, where she creates user experiences for some of the UK’s biggest retail, banking and healthcare companies.

When not preaching about mobile she’s helping coordinate service design events in the London community, such as Service Designing London and Global Service Jam.

Why Designing a Mobile App Isn’t Just About Designing for iPhone

Yes, all mobile phones have smaller screens, are used in similar contexts and are mostly finger friendly. However, when defining the user experience of an app for multiple mobile platforms (Android, iPhone, Windows Phone and Blackberry) the design solutions for each can be treated very differently to enhance the user experience.

This talk is aimed at user experience practitioners, product owners and designers who are making the transition from desktop to mobile app user experiences. I will highlight the main differences to consider when simultaneously designing a mobile app for multiple platforms and present best practices to show how you can tackle the user experience design to create a compelling app on all mobile phones.
